Details on the Axis Selection Feature

By default, the Adaptoid uses the analog joystick on the N64 controller to report the X and Y joystick axis position data to the PC. This provides proportional control for the X and Y axis, like most PC joysticks.

This is how various controls on the N64 controller are reported to the PC by the Adaptoid:

Default Button Mapping

Some games which were designed to be used with a gamepad instead of a joystick work better using the D-pad (directional control pad) to report the X and Y joystick axis positions. You can tell the Adaptoid to do this by holding the L+R+Z buttons and pressing the D-pad up 3 times:

Once you do this, the Adaptoid reports the N64 controller information to the PC like this:

Alternate Button Mapping

In this mode, the D-pad is used to control the X and Y axis. The analog stick then takes on a different role and acts like an 8-direction digital control and reports if it is up, down, left or right using buttons 11 through 14.

If you want to switch back to using the analog stick as the joystick axis control, hold the L+R+Z buttons and move the joystick up 3 times:

Whenever the Adaptoid is powered up it will automatically revert back to using the joystick as the axis control.
